Hemlock Way for JM

Joan Mitchell has had a important role in my life as a painter. Many, most of her paintings cause me to want to fall on the ground and weep. Hemlock 1956 is one of my all time favorite works in the collection of the Whitney Museum of American Art, New York. She told a young artist who had requested advise from her on being an artist: “find something that you love and let it kill you.”
